At the moment the pristine fresh blanket of snow makes today, Black Friday, seem peaceful and a little bit moody. With the promise of a bustling holiday season full of poinsettias and packages, the retail world is going full tilt to bring your attention and your dollars to their stores.
Christmas morning doesn’t disappoint knowing there are packages under the tree with your name on them from someone special. I am just suggesting to also acknowledge the gifts we receive every single day. There are not fancy bows and packaging but equally or more stunning are the collection of snowflakes on the winter ground or icicles large and small, the white canvas on the earth just waiting to be painted with a beautiful sunrise or shredded with the metal edges of a ski.
I think these are the finest gifts and they don’t wait for Christmas. These gifts keep giving all year long! Do you agree? It only takes a moment of pause and eyes wide open to receive these treasures.
The end of the year is a good time to reflect on what is old and what is new. One of my favorite autumn quotes says “the trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let things go”. A time to leave 2019 and this decade of hopes, promises, accomplishments, and failures behind bringing only the best ideas to carry into the new decade.
Petals of these sweet pink roses remind us there are so many layers to our existence and that with each season we can unfold more into the fullness of living. Petal after petal represents pleasure and pain but what we gain is the wisdom of how to bloom again and again.
Notice the gifts you are given every day and share YOUR gifts with this beautiful world. Bloom my friends, the time is now. The world needs your smile.
